International Holy Church of God - Bhobhoyi location
(Two Tunics project enrollment date: August 2008) (scroll down for recent updates)
The Nsindisweni Creche is in a semi rural community called Bhobhoyi just on the outskirts of Port Shepstone. Simon Nhlumayo is the pastor of the Internation Holy Church of God in the area of Bhobhoyi know as "the Jesus location". ("Nsindisweni" means "salvation place") Some years ago an elderly gogo (grandmother in Zulu) began caring for several of the community's pre-school children on the church grounds. Eventually a committee was formed and a formal creche estalished. Some people from Norwegian Settlers Church arranged for a shipping container to be donated and the creche has been meeting in it for a couple years. Two new creche teachers began caring for the children. They are very committed and want to provide good care for the children and are currently caring for 27 children.
The container that the creche meets in. The container is very hot in the summer and is now leaking. It also has a number of windows that are impossible to secure so theft is a problem. One of the needs of the creche is a better facility.
Recently a new church building was built with the help of international donors. The church sits empty 6 days a week and is only used on Sundays. We recently brought the creche committee and church together and the church has agreed to let the creche use the builiding on a trial basis. We hope to have the church see the creche as a ministry of the church and not just something they allow on their property.

Update - 10 Feb 2009
We have negotiated with the church to allow the creche to use the church building for the creche (it sits empty through out the week). In return Two Tunics has agreed to supply some chairs for the church and assist with completing the work on the toilets. The church facility is so much better than the container. It is much cooler this time of year and the roof doesn't leak.
Now that they have the space we have provided the creche with children's chairs and tables. The teachers now have the space so they can effectively work with the children.

Update - 5 Dec 2008
The Creche Christmas/End of Year Party was held on 2 Dec 2008. The party was held in the International Holy Church of God where the creche is located. The creche committee and teachers expressed their gratitude to Two Tunics for our support this year.
The Creche teacher Zanele with Onnie and Robin give "graduation certificates" to children who will be going on to primary school in January.
The kids enjoy a puppet show put on by Pastor Seepersad and his wife Donna.
Kids and parents enjoy the puppet show and program.
